A Chinese portable electromagnetic gun can be far more dangerous than anyone expected.

To be dangerous, the railgun must not reach hypersonic speed. The speed of a normal bullet is enough to make those systems dangerous. The railgun can be connected with the automatic launch system, which takes an image of the target. It measures the air pressure, wind, target’s distance, precise position, and speed. And then. The operator aims the gun, and the system shoots the ammunition automatically. The system. It can also use intelligent bullets that the laser point aims to target.

The system takes an image of the target. And then the system transfers it in the bullet, which uses its wings to drive it into the target. This allows the shooter to shoot precisely behind visual obstacles. The railgun system can also shoot small drone helicopters that fly over enemy heads. And then those mini copters can shoot those targets by using bullets inside them. The system would be. A little bit like the CBU-97 Sensor Fused Weapon, but smaller. The 20-40 mm version of this system is possible. To shoot through the portable railgun or grenade launcher.

Portable railguns reach a very high rate of fire. That means that the system can act as a portable version of the minigun. But the electromagnetic launching system makes it more flexible than regular guns. And another thing is that those electromagnetic weapons are not jammed in the same way as normal guns. The EM gun doesn’t need gunpowder, and that’s why it can act in very wet conditions. The main problem. With those guns is the battery system. Those batteries are heavy. They are as easy to change as the magazine of the gun. The system doesn’t cause flash in the dark. To be dangerous, the gun must not send ammunition.

CBU-97 Sensor Fused Weapon’s tactical diagram. The small-sized man-portable version of this weapon. It is maybe under development.

With hypersonic speed. The system can adjust the speed of ammunition from high subsonic to high supersonic. The speed of 9 mm. A Parabellum bullet is enough to kill a person. The small-sized EM guns don’t cause explosive alarms. The system can accelerate ammunition by using an electric arc. And then Gauss's track accelerates the ammunition. This kind of system can shoot 1000-3000 rounds per minute.

The small railguns can be mounted on the drones. And the lack of recoil makes them suitable for small drones. Small drones. They  can be equipped with centrifugal cannons. Centrifugal cannon. It is just a spinning plate. The problem is that. The muzzle velocity of centrifugal cannons is not as high as that of magnetic cannons.

The system that includes both systems. Centrifugal and magnetic accelerators can give far higher muzzle velocity and rate of fire than centrifugal cannon or magnetic cannon alone.

The rate of fire could rise far higher if Gauss’s track is connected to a centrifugal cannon. The centrifugal cannon is a spinning plate that can guide those rounds to Gauss’s track. The system can drop metal balls onto the spinning plate. And then the hole in the frame lets those metal balls travel into the magnetic accelerator.

China wants to get a position. As a new global force.

"Chinese aircraft carrier Fujian, as photographed by JMSDF on September 11, 2025." (Wikipedia)

China completed its new Fujian-class aircraft carrier. The carrier uses magnetic catapults and new types of aircraft. The Fujian uses a conventional diesel-and-steam turbine system. Fujian is the successor to aircraft carriers Liaoning and Shandong.

The first People’s Liberation Army aircraft carrier is Liaoning. China brought that ship from Russia. It is the Kuznezov-class carrier, and its successor is the Shandong. The Chinese copy of the Kuznezov-class carriers. Those two carriers reach 31 knots. The Fujian is the new version. That looks more like the U.S. Aircraft carriers.

The air wing includes new Shenyang J-35 stealth fighters. And the older Shenyang J-15. These are Chinese copies of the Russian Su-27 “Flanker”. J-35 is a carrier-based stealth fighter that is similar to the Lockheed F-35 Lightning II. That aircraft is one of the things that can cause trouble for other countries. Those carriers also carry AWACS and other support systems.

The Fujian is the Type 003 aircraft carrier, and its successor, Type 004, will be a nuclear-powered version of the Fujian. The nuclear-powered aircraft carriers give China the global strike capacity. Those aircraft carriers are needed to support global-scale operations.

"The U.S. Defense Department in a 2021 report titled “Military and Security Developments Involving the People’s Republic of China” listed 14 countries — including Cambodia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates and Kenya — as locations that the Chinese military has considered for developing “bases or military logistics facilities.”Regarding China’s move to assist the development of Cambodia’s Ream Naval Base, the report stated that the move indicates that China’s “overseas basing strategy has diversified.”

(AsiaNews, China expands military presence under Belt and Road initiative)

Capacity improvement?

"In 2017, China established an overseas military base at Doraleh Port in the East African nation of Djibouti. Currently it is China’s only overseas base and has been used to supply destroyers and other vessels dispatched to counter piracy off the coast of Somalia. A U.S. military official said in April 2021 that China had been expanding the port’s pier, which could now host a port call by a Chinese aircraft carrier." (AsiaNews, China expands military presence under Belt and Road initiative)

Those new ships should strengthen China’s position. In the global theatre. Those aircraft carriers are also needed to support and escort Chinese strategic bombers. If those bombers face engine failures or something disturbs their operations. Those fighters can cut the game. They can support rescue teams in cases where some nuclear weapons must be recovered. Those aircraft carriers also. It might have a role. In the support operations of the Chinese overseas military bases.

China already has an overseas military base in Djibouti. And it has a logistics and other facilities chain. Between China and Djibouti. China considers logistics and military bases in Africa. The fact is that. China wants to enlarge its military footprint. And the bases at Angola and Namibia will support the Chinese missions in the Atlantic. The Chinese influence increases. The Chinese military base in Djibouti is fully operational. It is officially for anti-pirate operations.

But as we see, China plans to increase its influence in Africa. By establishing a chain of naval and logistics bases. On the East African Coast. Those bases should also protect Chinese investments in Africa. And one of the things that China hopes for. Those bases bring it. They are new allies. Those who want to make deep military and economic cooperation with China. China wants. To take the place. That the Soviet Union had.

China’s new Sharp Sword drones are located in an operational airbase in Tibet.

China’s unmanned stealth drones. Called Hongdu GJ-11, “Sharp Swords” are visible in the satellite images. They are located in the operational airbase in Tibet. Those drones are quite similar to X-47B, which was one of the first large-sized drones in the world. The Sharp Swrd is new and more advanced than the X-47B that was developed in 2011. But “Sharp Swords” have more advanced materials and AI that allow them to operate more independently than X-47B. The drone can operate in intelligence duties.

But it can also have attack and even air-combat capacities. In some scenarios, some drones are equipped with mirrors that aim laser beams at the desired targets. The laser system has one weakness. It cannot shoot projectiles on a parabolic trajectory. That denies its ability to shoot over the hills. But the drone with a mirror can reflect a laser ray over the walls.

Dropping the bomb or launching the missiles can happen using the terrain contour matching, TERCOM, or the Loran navigation system. In the last case, crossing radio beams activate the bombardment system. The TERCOM-AI-based system is more flexible. And more effective. Because there is no need for an outside radio source, these large-sized drones can operate independently. That makes the ECM-free, but the high-power EMP can destroy that drone.

The large-sized drone can operate as a bomber; it can drop conventional or even nuclear weapons. And the drone can also use an internal nuclear detonator, which turns them into the deadliest kamikaze-drones that have ever been developed. The unmanned stealth drones can have the space shuttle variants. That means those highly automated systems can be something that we have never seen before. The location is in a fully operational airbase means that those drones are coming into operation soon, or maybe they are already operational. The thing that determines those drones' use is the AI. Maybe those drones have the air combat capacity. And if those systems have enough high-power computers, they can run the advanced AI on those computers.

The new heat shield material opens China's path to next-generation hypersonic flight.

"Illustration of a carbide ceramic material capable of withstanding extreme temperatures, revolutionizing hypersonic technology, generated by artificial intelligence." (Rude Baquette, “They Flew Through Hellfire”: China’s New Heat Shield Shatters Thermal Limits, Unlocking Next-Level Hypersonic Speeds)

"In a groundbreaking advancement that could redefine aerospace and energy industries, Chinese scientists have developed a revolutionary carbide ceramic capable of withstanding temperatures up to 6,512 degrees Fahrenheit (3600 C), surpassing current thermal limits and opening new frontiers for hypersonic technology." (Rude Baquette, “They Flew Through Hellfire”: China’s New Heat Shield Shatters Thermal Limits, Unlocking Next-Level Hypersonic Speeds)

One of the leading states in hypersonic R&D work is China. When we talk about hypersonic flight in the atmosphere, we must realize that things like pressure and heat cause problems with reusable systems like hypersonic jet fighters. The main problem with hypersonic aircraft and their heat shield is how to remove heat from the heat shield. When a heat shield stores heat energy, that thing makes its structure weaker. And if there is a hole that lets thermal energy impact the aircraft’s body. And that is a fatal case. There is one way to conduct energy out of the shell.

And that is to store liquid gas like liquid nitrogen in a thermos bottle. When the aircraft’s shell turns too hot, the system injects liquid gas into it. In some other models, some liquids like water or some hydrocarbons flow in the cooling tubes. If the shell is connected to those tubes, it can decrease the temperature. In some models, the aircraft’s fuel will travel to the engine through the cooling tube.

That increases the hydrocarbons like. Methane or hydrogen, at a higher temperature. That allows the injection of the preheated fuel into the combustion chamber of the ramjet or scramjet engines. In that case, those engines must not create as much friction heat as in the case of cold fuel for reaching the inflammation point.

Otherwise, the aircraft’s body can involve air tunnels, and the cooler elements are connected to the critical points of the hypersonic aircraft. The idea is that the ram-air that travels in those tubes conducts temperature out from the shell and conducts it to the airflow. There are multiple things. That can help keep the temperature on the aircraft’s shell low enough. The hypersonic flight is the next-generation tool in missiles, bombers, and fighters. That allows the system to travel lower than satellites but almost as fast as a ballistic missile.

Today, there are hypersonic missiles that are single-use attack weapons. But the hypersonic systems can also give new abilities to the space systems and things like attack and reconnaissance aircraft. The next-generation reusable systems can increase the air force strike capacity to a very high level. A hypersonic missile that is launched from a hypersonic aircraft can be the next-generation attack system. In the same way, if the hypersonic aircraft attacks a target using a cannon, the result is devastating.

But reusable hypersonic aircraft require a new type of advanced heat shield. The hypersonic jet fighter is much more difficult to make than a hypersonic missile. But technology is advancing. And that means that. The new hypersonic strike and reconnaissance aircraft can be airborne sooner than we expect. Or maybe they are already in service.
