BEAM (Bigelow Expandable Activity Module) is balloon type module, what is connected to the ISS (International Space Station). This structure is temporary, and it would be removed after some time. But this kind of structures might be very useful in this kind of space stations. The structure of the module is similar to space suits, and it can be used as the garbage module, what would return to the Earth or let burn in the atmosphere. If the space station wants to sort their garbages, there could be two type of modules in the space stations. Another can burn in the atmosphere and another would return to the Earth. In fact, the big inflatable but the lightweight module can revolutionize the spaceflight.
That kind of structure, what has an airlock, can launch to the orbital trajectory with quite a small spacecraft. And when the extra module would be pressurized, that thing would give very much extra space for the small space shuttles, and it can be used in the long-term space trips. In those case, the small size spacecraft would be connected to this structure, and its motors would be used as the pusher of the modular spacecraft, what can be very large. If they are empty, those modules don't take so much space in the rocket, as the normal structures, and that's why those soft modules can be bigger than stiff modules are.
The inflatable structures can be used in the Mars- or Moon station, what are on orbiter or surface, and they can also be used for the emergency roles. In this case, the structure would be blown to the form in the case of an accident, and the crew of the space station could be evacuated in the space balloon. Modules like BEAM can be used also in another kind of soft space structures like giant bags. By using those high-tech bags NASA and USAF can collect the broken satellites from the orbital trajectory. They can launch to the orbiter by using small size rockets, and by returning those satellites can cover secretive information. And this makes those "space bags" interesting.
