Mushrooms can act as a vital component in the new types of computers.

“Mushrooms have long been recognized for their extreme resilience and unique properties. Their innate abilities make them perfect specimens for bioelectronics, an emerging field that, for next-gen computing, could help develop exciting new materials.” (Phys.org, Mushrooms show promise as memory chips for future computers)

Basically, any material can act as memory. Proteins are as effective as magnetic tools in storing data. In that case, the system can store information. In the waves of the protein. Those wrinkles can be one, and the lower areas between those “hills” can be zero. That is one way to store information in a form that is immune to electromagnetic radiation. The system must have the ability to read that information. And it can happen by using microscopes.

The biological data storage. Like mushrooms and living neurons, it is one way to store data. Mushroom networks can act as data processors. As well as all other networks. Those systems can make future computers more secure than before. The problem is with the computers in the kernel and ROM (Read-Only Memory) circuits. If the ROM circuit loses its data. That makes the computer unable to operate.

The answer to that problem can be a mechanical computer. The mechanical computer was the tool. That was used before electronic computers. Electronic computers were more multi-use tools. Than mechanical systems. But nanotechnology. Makes it possible to create compact systems. Those mechanical computers can be used to restore ROM circuits if they have lost their programming.

“As one example, researchers from The Ohio State University recently discovered that common edible fungi, such as shiitake mushrooms, can be grown and trained to act as organic memristors, a type of data processor that can remember past electrical states.” (Phys.org, Mushrooms show promise as memory chips for future computers)

The thing. That makes the new study. To use mushrooms as computers is that those networks are used as the RAM (Read-Access Memory). Mushrooms are forming networks. In the same way as neurons do. That makes them. Able to act as the living network. Mushroom networks are tools. That gives new abilities to computers. In those tests, researchers connected electrodes to different points of the network. In those cases. Researchers used mushrooms’ mycelium. That formed a network structure between electrodes.

“After two months, the team discovered that when used as RAM – the computer memory that stores data – their mushroom memristor was able to switch between electrical states at up to 5,850 signals per second, with about 90% accuracy. However, performance dropped as the frequency of the electrical voltages increased, but much like an actual brain, it could be fixed by connecting more mushrooms to the circuit.” (Phys.org, Mushrooms show promise as memory chips for future computers)

Mushroom networks are things that can be more promising than living neurons. Living mushrooms don’t require similar nutrients to neurons. There is also a possibility. To use dry or killed fungi. That makes it possible to create new types of electronics. But there is a possibility of using the genetically engineered fungus. That also gives electricity. To the computers.
